Rudd Government Delivers Australia's First Paid Parental Leave Scheme

The Gillard Labor Government will invest in a major upgrade of facilities at the Western Sydney International Hockey Centre if elected on August 21.


The announcement was made today by Assistant Treasurer Nick Sherry and Member for Lindsay David Bradbury.


Federal Labor will provide $1 million to repair and resurface both of the hockey centre’s hockey pitches.

TAX TIME GAIN FOR 40,000 PEOPLE IN LINDSAY

Around 40,000 people in the electorate of Lindsay in Sydney’s West will receive bigger tax returns as a result of the Gillard Government’s $620 million initiative to make tax time simpler by providing an optional standard $1,000 tax deduction for work related expenses.


Assistant Treasurer, Senator Nick Sherry, and David Bradbury, the Member for Lindsay, have today announced that 40,000 residents in Penrith, Kingswood, St Marys and other areas of Lindsay will benefit financially from the initiative.


The Gillard Labor Government’s scheme will provide an optional standard work expenses deduction at tax time of $500 for the 2012-13 tax year benefiting 28,000 Lindsay residents.


The deduction will rise to $1,000 for the 2013-14 tax year, when up to 40,000 Lindsay residents will be net winners.


As a result of the standard work expenses deduction package, Lindsay residents will be, in total around $7.8 million better off, helping to ease the costs of living Sydney’s West.....READ MORE..


David Bradbury welcomes University debate invitation

Federal Member for Lindsay David Bradbury has welcomed an invitation from the University of Western Sydney for a candidate’s debate during the election campaign.

“I welcome the invitation from the University of Western Sydney’s School of Communication Arts to participate in an election campaign candidates’ debate with my Liberal opponent,” said Mr Bradbury.

“This is an opportunity for people in our community to hear the policies of the major parties and find out where the candidates stand on issues that are important to local residents.

Candidate stumbles again: out of touch on interest rates

Following her stumble on asylum seeker policy in her first public statement, Liberal candidate for Lindsay Fiona Scott has now made a gaffe on interest rates, said Federal Member for Lindsay, David Bradbury.


In an article in online news site The Punch today (http://www.thepunch.com.au/articles/Election-2010-Meet-the-Kingmakers), and in comments on television news broadcasts over the weekend, Fiona Scott incorrectly said there had been ‘seven interest rate rises in a row’.


Interest rates have risen six times, not seven (http://www.rba.gov.au/statistics/cash-rate.html), but the most important point that Fiona Scott failed to mention was that interest rates are still lower today than they were when the Liberals were last in power....READ MORE...

A re-elected Gillard Government will move Australia forward and keep our economy strong, said Federal Member for Lindsay, David Bradbury.


Prime Minister Julia Gillard announced that an election will be held on Saturday, 21 August.

The Liberal Party candidate for the seat of Lindsay wants to take the local community backwards by supporting a return to WorkChoices, cuts to schools and cuts to health, said Federal Member for Lindsay, David Bradbury.

Rudd Government Delivers Australia's First Paid Parental Leave Scheme

The Rudd Government has delivered on its 2007 pre-election commitment and will introduce Australia’s first paid parental leave scheme.
